More Than Arithmetic
Brooke Fraser (produced by Rob Harley)
(Review by Steve Bell, producer of “Pop Culture” radio spots at Christian Resource Centre International)
Here’s the great paradox. The kids who want the positive role models are good kids. And troubled kids couldn’t care less about having a positive role model, yet they’re the ones who need one!
I think most positive role models are expected, pressured even, to give the impression that they’ve got it sorted, they’ve got it all together. What could turn off a troubled kid quicker?
Then there’s Brooke Fraser. Genuine, endearing, purposeful, yet confessing “I’ve got to live a life that’s above reproach, which is real difficult, because I will, you know .. I will mess up”.
Produced by respected New Zealand broadcaster, Rob Harley, “More than Arithmetic” tells Brooke’s story so far. It chronicles her attempts to win over the Australian market, and is filled with examples of the rising star’s faith in action.
Brooke’s is an encouraging story, useful for youth, young adults (more suited to young females), and young marrieds groups, and is also a good watch for any aspiring musicians, or parents thereof.
The trick, of course, is how to get those who need a positive role model the most, to watch!
